Dr. Mark Bohan, Director of Prinect & CtP of Heidelberg USA, has been named the 2018 TAGA Michael H. Bruno Award recipient by Printing Industries of America. The award is given by the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) to print professionals with distinguished careers in appreciation of their contributions to the advancement of the graphic arts.

Dr. Bohan is an acknowledged expert and evangelist on workflows and new technologies impacting the print industry. He is currently the business driver for Prinect, a fully featured Business Intelligence Platform designed specifically for printing. Its workflow architecture can be the backbone of all production and operational management-a transformative tool for integration and consistently profitable print manufacturing.

He serves on the board of directors for TAGA, and previously served for 6 years on the board of directors of CIP4. He has been involved with the development of graphic arts ISO standards for over 20 years and is a U.S. expert on ISO TC130. He participates in PPC, GWG, CGATS, and USTAG.

Dr. Bohan is active in an extensive range of printing, paper, and coating activities looking at the latest trends in the industry. He has also been involved in many projects evaluating new technologies, their implementation, and in the application of functional materials using different processes. Many of these have been published in the press and in publications.

Dr. Bohan was a longstanding staff member at Printing Industries of America, where he used his position as the Vice President of Technology and Research to transform technical program offerings and focus on member needs while integrating multiple departments and developing new revenue streams.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bohan has spoken extensively (approximately 250 times) on topics including new technologies, research, press optimization, systems integration, CIM technologies, and the opportunities they present. He maintains close ties with many practitioners, researchers, and manufacturers in the field. He has written in a wide array of fields culminating in over 100 publications including journal publications, PIA publications, AERE peer-reviewed publications and peer-reviewed conference papers. He has also written over 80 press articles.

For his achievements in the graphic arts, Dr. Bohan was recognized as an "alien of extraordinary ability" and obtained his Green Card in July 2010-those recognized in this category make up a small percentage who has risen to the very top of their field of endeavor.

Please join Printing Industries of America and TAGA in congratulating Dr. Mark Bohan on this honor and to acknowledge his exemplary career. More about the TAGA Michael H. Bruno Award can be found at https://www.printing.org/programs/awards/taga-michael-h-bruno-award.
