CNET Builder.com Live!, New Orleans -Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) today announced an initiative to enable the more than 1.5 million developers using Macromedia products to create even more effective and usable Web sites. As a first step, Macromedia is bringing together leading designers and usability experts to define techniques to create more usable, engaging Macromedia Flash content. Macromedia Flash content can be viewed on 96 percent of Web desktops and has enabled leading brands to deliver award-winning sites. For example, 74 percent of Communication Arts' 6th Annual Interactive Design award winners used Macromedia Flash to deliver their compelling, high-impact content. A new usability area on the Macromedia Web site contains usability suggestions, accessibility information, examples, articles, and white papers to enable the more than 500,000 Macromedia Flash developers to deliver better user experiences. The usability area is centered on Macromedia's "Top 10 Usability Tips for Flash Web Sites," and is available at http://www.macromedia.com/go/usability/. "The Macromedia Flash community is engaging in a conversation about the importance of user-centric design, usability testing, and accessibility," said Peter Goldie, vice president of product marketing for Macromedia. "We worked with the community to help define these usability guidelines as a first step, and we are committed to continuing to enable developers to create compelling content that provides effective user experiences."
