High-Speed Inline Saddle-Stitching Now Possible with Oce Digi-Stitcher System
Press release from the issuing company
OcÈ Printing Systems USA, Inc. announces the new Digi-Stitcher system, recognized as the world's fastest saddle-stitching device for inline finishing of print-on-demand applications. The Xplor International Global Conference was the first U.S. showing of this innovative product, one of the only high-speed inline finishing options available on the market today. Now insurance companies, brokerage firms, service bureaus, financial printers and others have a high performance solution for complete on-demand production of saddle-stitched booklets. "The Digi-Stitcher system extends the range of high-performance post-processing options for the DemandStream 8000 series of digital printing systems," said Guy Broadhurst, product manager for OcÈ Printing Systems USA, Inc. The finishing unit keeps pace with the fastest of OcÈ's DemandStream and PageStream systems, even the PageStream 1060 with an outspeed of 1,060 images per minute. The system delivers up to 8,220 saddle-stitched booklets per hour, the only product capable of continuous operation at these maximum speeds. Jointly developed by OcÈ and British manufacturer IBIS (Integrated Bindery Systems), this unique productivity enhancement tool is marketed worldwide exclusively by OcÈ. The Digi-Stitcher eliminates the interruptions and manual intervention that slow production and compromise quality in the creation of high-volume, high-quality bound booklets. With the new Digi-Stitcher system, the tasks of collecting and saddle-stitching document sets are no longer bottlenecks on the production line. When operations are able to complete work faster and with less manual intervention, they gain increased capacity, efficiency and revenue opportunities. With the new Digi-Stitcher system make- ready times are significantly reduced. Booklet size changes can be made within just five minutes.
