Avery Dennison Innovation Center, Mentor USA Earns ISO 17025 Accreditation from A2LA

Press release from the issuing company

MENTOR, OHIO – Avery Dennison announced today it has received ISO 17025 accreditation for its Innovation Center, Mentor USA. The accreditation audit was conducted by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), and issued in June 2017. The scope of the accreditation covers 55 laboratory tests, conducted at the Mentor, Ohio facility, for adhesives and pressure-sensitive films and label materials.

ISO 17025 accreditation provides major advantages for Avery Dennison customers as it eliminates the need for additional testing by in-house or third-party providers. This is especially beneficial in the automotive and durable goods segments, where ISO 17025 is often a built-in original equipment manufacturers (OEM) specification.

“Avery Dennison’s Ohio Innovation Center is one of seven Global Innovation Centers where we focus on creating innovations that meet our customers' current needs and to anticipate future desires,” said Mark Alessandro, global R&D durability engineering manager, Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials. “Our effort to earn ISO 17025 was sparked by specific feedback provided by customers during these activities.”

“In knowing our test methods are ISO 17025 accredited, OEMs gain confidence in our data and products which strengthens the trust and relationships with their suppliers, in turn our customers,” Alessandro said.  “We are constantly advancing our capabilities and take pride in bringing solutions to our customers.”

The Avery Dennison Innovation Centers have expansive testing capabilities that enable the company to continue to create product breakthroughs while supporting customer requirements. In addition to its ISO 17025 accreditation, the Innovation Center in Mentor is also ISO 9001 accredited and UL? and BS 5609 certified.

A2LA is the largest, U.S.-based multi-discipline accreditation body, with more than 30 years of ISO standards and development use. Its auditing services are considered to be a “gold standard” due to their quality and thoroughness.
