Press release from the issuing company
“MediaStandard Print 2016 – Technical Guidelines for Data, Proof and Production Run Printing” is now available on the website of Bundesverband Druck und Medien (bvdm, German Printing and Media Industries Federation). The previous English edition, which was published in 2006, was widely distributed and heavily used all around the world.
MediaStandard Print lays the foundation for smooth cooperation between customer, prepress service provider and printer during media production. It is based on international standards such as the ISO 12647 series. Over the decades, the bvdm has played a major role in the development, advancement and practical implementation of standards.
The latest MSP edition is the first set of guidelines in English to describe the consistent application of the standard offset printing conditions (ISO 12647-2) that were updated in 2013 to take into account the effect of optical brightening agents. It also offers a detailed treatment of the use of the CIEDE2000 colour difference formula, which became obligatory for digital proofs from October 2016 onwards (ISO 12647-7). „Thereby we support those German printing- and prepress-businesses, which are doing business worldwide“, comments Dieter Kleeberg, technical consultant at bvdm.
Like the original German edition “MedienStandard Druck 2016”, the PDF file can be downloaded for free on the bvdm-homepage www.bvdm-online.de by following the path “Themen › Technik + Forschung › Richtlinien und Handreichungen”.
