University of Miami and Canon Solutions America's Enterprise Managed Services Division Continue to Grow Strategic Partnership at Festival Miami

Press release from the issuing company

MELVILLE, N.Y. - Canon Solutions America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A. Inc.,  announced today that its Enterprise Managed Services Division helped kick off the 33rd annual Festival Miami last month – Florida's Premier Live Music Festival hosted by The University of Miami's Frost School of Music. The month-long celebration, held from January 19th – February 11th, showcased award-winning artists across multiple musical genres.

The Enterprise Managed Services Division sponsored the Dizzy Gillespie Tribute highlighting music composed by the late jazz icon John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie. The evening featured several notable jazz musicians associated with Gillespie throughout their illustrious careers – trumpeter Jon Faddis, saxophonist Jimmy Heath, drummer Ignacio Berroa, pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Chuck Bergeron on bass – along with the award-winning Frost Concert Jazz Band lead by Director John Daversa.

Students from local public schools attended the concert free of charge, as part of the Shalala MusicReach Program for community education and engagement.  Run by the Frost School of Music, and headed by Dean Shelton G. "Shelly" Berg and Patricia L. Frost, Professor of Music, the program provides a broad range of musical experiences for students throughout Miami–Dade County.

Festival Miami's goal is to provide access to high-quality music at affordable prices; each year they present 25-30 concerts featuring Grammy Award winning music from guest artists, faculty artists, and student ensembles.

"Festival Miami represents the absolute best in music and culture. We're proud to support this wonderful event and assist the University of Miami in providing affordable access to world-class musicians," said Canon Solutions America's Valerie Belli, vice president of the Enterprise Managed Services Division, who hosted the tribute event on the company's behalf.

Belli said of the event: "I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It transported me, and I look forward to attending next year's concert."

More about the University of Miami / Enterprise Managed Services Division Alliance:

In 2013, the Enterprise Managed Services Division embarked on a long-term relationship with the University of Miami that began with implementing technology and services to meet the needs of their vast and multi-faceted student, faculty, and administrative environment. Collaborating with various stakeholders at the university, the program continues to evolve across four core areas: sponsorship, philanthropy, student advancement, and community engagement.

With assistance from Canon Solutions America, the Enterprise Managed Services Division helps support the University of Miami's Frost School of Music by providing funding for the school's community outreach efforts, which includes the Henry Mancini Institute Outbound in the Schools in collaboration with the MusicReach Program.

Other innovative initiatives with the Division at the University of Miami are:

  • Athletics and Watsco Center
  • Pediatric Mobile Clinic
  • The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) Job SEEKers Program
  • Rosentiel Shark Research and Conservation Program
  • Toppel Career Center Partner Program
  • Bascom Palmer Vision Van

Strategic Alliances have become the foundation of the Division's engagements with higher education clients. With a strong reputation in managed services, the group has developed a robust higher education offering that focuses on more than just selling printers and copiers. While many of their clients have a traditional vendor-client agreement in place, the Enterprise Managed Services Division has begun to see a shift towards a strategic partnership model, where the contracted services act as a foundation for a more significant relationship that drives value for both organizations.

The Division has proven success growing functionally and geographically with forward-thinking organizations, providing opportunities to expand their partnership with Canon Solutions America beyond traditional technology solutions and designing customized programs that leverage the vast capabilities of the world-renowned Canon brand.
