Canon U.S.A. Announces a New Approach to Premium-Quality InkJet Printing with Océ ProStream Series

Press release from the issuing company

MELVILLE, N.Y. – Building on a decade of experience in inkjet technology, Canon U.S.A, Inc.,  a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced its new Océ ProStream series inkjet press, a solution designed to open up new business opportunities for commercial printers.  Leveraging two years of development and a greenfield approach regarding design, this series is built on new innovative technology that takes high-speed inkjet to the next level of color output quality and media versatility, particularly in high-growth segments such as publishing, premium direct mail, graphic arts, and marketing collateral.

"The ProStream combines and optimizes proven, but previously separate inkjet technologies such as full-page pre-coating, polymer inks, and extended drying in an elegant design to achieve offset substrate flexibility and output quality,” said Marco Boer, vice-president, IT Strategies, Inc.  “It is the closest to offset in productivity, color vibrancy, and solid area ink coverage that I have seen from an inkjet press to date."

With a resolution of 1200 dpi and a print rate of 262 feet per minute, this heavy-duty production engine, delivers outstanding quality on a broad range of media. The new series is already winning accolades even before launch: the ProStream has earned a coveted iF design award for 2017.

"We are excited about the ability to deliver premium quality on a wide range of media, which in the past was incredibly hard to achieve with inkjet technologies," said Christine Soward, president, DMS Inc.

The latest piezo drop-on-demand inkjet print head generation is leveraged with Océ Multilevel technology for sharper details, smoother half tones and economized ink usage. An Océ-developed set of ColorGrip and polymer pigment inks creates exciting, vibrant colors that leave a lasting impression

The sensitive floatation air dryer ensures that the printed paper is not touched until the print images are fully robust – there are no scratches or changes to gloss levels and minimal paper stress for maximum quality.

"As someone who has been in the commercial print industry for 30 years, I was amazed by the quality and versatility this press offers," said Chris Petro, vice president of strategic accounts, Creel Printing. "This product has the opportunity of changing the market as we know it."

For seven straight years, Canon has been the worldwide leader in continuous feed inkjet.  A key to that success is Canon’s commitment to bringing innovative technology to the professional digital printing market.
