(August 16, 2008) Matik North America, the exclusive distributor for Edelmann Graphics GmbH, has launched the latest generation of shaft-less narrow web presses from Edelmann in North America.
Edelmann is a German manufacturer of litho based narrow web presses. They have been building presses since 1972 with a total world wide installed base of 3400. Well known and successful in Europe, Matik appointed an Edelmann specialist, Chris Davis 18 months ago to raise the profile of the Edelmann range in the North American market. Several presses have already been sold with a recent installation in NJ and an order for a DM press destined for KS, in build.
Tackling a variety of market sectors the Edelmann range offers cost effective production solutions for a number of substrates and printed products including, DM, commercial print, packaging (flexible and folding carton), labels, security and half web heat set applications.
There are four machines in the range, all variable, the most successful being the Shaft-less Color Print series which is available in web widths of 20 ½" and 28 1/3" with print repeats of 16" to 48", which is unique in the narrow web sector.
The Color Print presses have been providing capacity in the DM sector for over 15 years with many systems such as Variable Data, Personalization and in-line converting being integrated into the press platform. Multi-web presses have also been built for specialized integrated applications.
Hybrid presses are available with flexo/offset being the most common marriage; flexo allows varnishes, adhesives and other media to be applied to the web very cost effectively and simply. A host of converting options add value to the 'one pass' advantage of a web press.
The presses operate on an internal network which is Microsoft based for easy and clear operation. The 'open architecture' system is a stable operator platform which allows for seamless integration of OEM units as well as quick retrofits. Ink profiles can be uploaded directly to the press via CIP3/4 and a modem allows for speedy support intervention if required. Powerful onboard diagnostics provide operators with an on-site reference. The complete feature list is designed to assist the operator to make best use of his time and skills.
All variants of drying systems are available depending on the need, regulation and application; such as UV, EB, IR and hot air.
Chris Davis,' The hallmarks of the range are best in class print quality, robust German engineering married to state of the art PC control systems which provide ultra fast make readies and low cost of ownership. The servo driven machines present many cost and operational advantages to today's DM and Transactional printer. We are in discussions with a diverse number of North American printers who are curious about what the press offers and the strong ROI argument. The Edelmann presses are supported in North America by our CT based factory trained service technicians. We are looking forward to exhibiting at Print Solutions Expo 2008 in Baltimore, to highlight the Edelmann range at this prestigious event'.
