SGIA Journal Features Article By Aurora’s Marcia Ayala on Today’s Custom Finishes for Print Media

Press release from the issuing company

Las Vegas, Nevada - The September/October 2016 issue of SGIA Journal, which is being distributed at SGIA 2016 in Las Vegas, includes a feature article on today’s custom coatings and finishes for print media by Marcia Ayala, Vice President at Aurora.

Ayala, who also leads Aurora’s R&D division, wrote the article as a how-to and best practices primer on the coatings and finishes needed to best prepare print media for different printers and end products.
In the article, she discusses the interactions between coatings and inks, and looks at the various coatings needed, or legally required, for the applications in most demand in today’s print market.
Her article can be found on page 59 of SGIA Journal.

At SGIA 2016, Aurora Specialty Textiles Group is also launching the Expressions Canvas line, an exciting, new canvas collection specially engineered for optimal performance across a broad range of today’s latest digital printers, including latex, UV, solvent and eco-solvent.

Expressions is both robust and versatile, providing Print Service Providers (PSPs) that use different printers with a canvas that can be used across multiple platforms without sacrificing print performance, ink usage or production output.
The new Expressions line offers the full range of popular gloss levels requested by today’s market, from matte, satin, semi-gloss to gloss, all available at widths up to 122” and roll lengths up to 1,100 yards. Aurora, being the manufacturer, also has the ability to provide custom sizes to best meet customer needs.

Aurora Specialty Textiles Group has developed a proprietary coating for the Expressions line that not only makes it versatile, but also optimally high performing. Expressions is also OBA-free, demonstrating very good archival properties without sacrificing whiteness.  Expressions is made from premium 35% cotton/65% polyester fine Oxford weave (2-over-1) 12 oz.

And certainly not least - Expressions was developed and is also made in the USA at Aurora’s manufacturing plant in Yorkville, Illinois.
