Press release from the issuing company
Cleveland, OH – Heading into the SGIA Expo later this week, Graphco is pleased to announce recent placements of Inpro 141” Special Cutters at two of the most successful large-format printers in the Midwest. Joining over a dozen existing Inpro customers throughout North America, Color Ink and ABS Graphics are now enjoying an “unfair advantage" based on the wide range of specialty substrates their Inpro cutters can cut while maintaining extremely high quality.
“The success that our customers are achieving is nothing short of amazing. Jobs that took days on CAD Cutters are now being done in a few hours,” states Gary Greis, National Sales Manager for Graphco. “Inpro cutter operators also really appreciate all the unique features that set the Inpro apart from regular guillotine paper cutters. Inpro’s Soft-Touch clamping system prevents top sheet damage and won’t crush softer sandwich board substrates and our SharpEdge cutting technology provides a crisp and clean edge on many substrates that a regular paper cutter would fray or damage.”
While Inpro Special Cutters are available in sizes ranging from 83” all the way up to 208” wide, for most busy large-format printers the perfect size is 141” which allows 5’ X 10’ boards to turn inside the cutter saving up to 60% over smaller cutters that require removing large sheets before turning. In addition to the tremendous size advantage Inpro Rhino and Jumbo Special Cutters offer, they are ideally suited to cutting materials that are difficult or impossible on a conventional guillotine cutter. Processing large volumes of sandwich board and fluted materials in stacks as high as 3.94” clears bottlenecks in POP/POS workflows.
“Having run a very high volume, wide-format department before I joined Graphco this Spring, I’ve been particularly impressed with the versatility and productivity of these units,” states Greis, who was VP of Manufacturing at The Hennegan Company, an RR Donnelley Company. “As the speed of ink jet printing of 5’ X 10’ boards approachs 200 boards per hour, the next bottleneck in most shops is finishing. Inpro Special Cutters produce straight line jobs in a fraction of the time needed on even the fastest CAD cutters which frees them up to do the fancier jobs they are geared toward. Inpro’s technology allows printers investing in the fastest wide-format printing solutions to run their equipment at full capacity. Compared to other ways of cutting, the Inpro gives our
customers an unfair advantage, but that’s a good thing," says Greis.
Color Ink, based in Sussex WI, offers their nationwide group of industry leading retail, manufacturing and business clients an array of turnkey solutions to their complex branding objectives. Many of their dynamic marketing programs are keenly focused on wide-format print as a strong component of their solution. When Color Ink began their investigation into a large format cutter to open up capacity in their CAD cutting department several solutions were considered. Color Ink president Todd Meissner explains, “After looking at the various options we decided the Inpro Rhino 360 cutter offered the greatest flexibility for the kinds of substrates we typically produce. We also had a good relationship with Graphco as our Ryobi distributor so moving forward on the Inpro purchase was easy. Since the Inpro was installed we have been extremely pleased with its ease of use and productivity.”
ABS Graphics in Itasca, IL got into the wide-format market in a big way in 2013 and their growth over the past three years has been phenomenal. Offering 5’ X 10’ production of both screen and high speed digital print gives ABS Graphics a lot of horsepower on the print side. But until the Inpro cutter was delivered, cutting was sometimes a bottleneck. ABS Graphics Principal, Steve VanderVeen, has been quite pleased with the results achieved by the Inpro cutter since it was installed earlier this summer. “The Inpro cutter has definitely opened up our production schedule and saved us time and better use of our CAD cutter. We made the right choice,” states VanderVeen.
Visitors to booth 3097 on the center aisle of the SGIA Expo will learn how Graphco's Inpro Special Cutters can open bottlenecks in finishing while dramatically reducing the cost of manufacturing wide-format print of all kinds. Special manufacturing cost analytics can be developed very quickly by sharing basic information about a printer’s current process. Then a highly accurate return on investment calculations can be made on the spot at the Inpro stand. Graphco President, Chris Manley, adds “We welcome printers from around the county to visit us so they can learn how to gain an unfair advantage in their
marketplace."
