One Pass Finishing for the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110

Press release from the issuing company

June 13, 2002 -- Heidelberg is showing off its special customer solution for inline finishing in digital printing – in the form of the Digimaster 9110 with Hole Puncher and Ti 40 folder. The experts at the Ludwigsburg and Mühlhausen sites have been working together closely on this project to maximize synergies. As a result, the customer receives a one pass finishing solution that can be used in in-house printshops and data centers. Applications include personalized mailshot campaigns with document features such as letters with digitally-printed enclosures. Letter-format leaflets are another option. Inline finishing with the Digimaster 9110 is a flexible and productive solution comprising a hole puncher, pile delivery and integrated Ti 40 folder. The need for manual input is reduced and operator errors are cut – which ultimately leads to lower costs and greater time savings. The use of standard paper brings two advantages. Firstly, greater value can be added thanks to the fact that perforation can be performed in the press. Secondly, storage facilities are no longer required and lead times are shortened. The diversity of variations is growing, and service providers can respond flexibly to customer inquiries. Heidelberg unveiled the Hole Puncher at the IPEX 02 trade show. As an inline add-on module, it represents a fully-integrated and fast solution for producing documents with loose-leaf, ring, plastic comb, spiral or wire comb bindings. In addition to the inline punching functions, the Hole Puncher 9110 offers a more cost-effective and efficient alternative to punching in offline mode, since it streamlines the workflow, supports punching at full production speed and requires only a minimum of intervention on the part of operating personnel. Heidelberg has designed the Hole Puncher 9110 to support seamless integration with all new or existing Digimaster systems. This module will be available from August 2002. The Digimaster with Hole Puncher and folder has been developed to suit individual customers' wishes, and series production is dependent on market demand.
