Mumbai’s Globe Print n Pack installs Esko ArtiosCAD, DeskPack and Plato

Press release from the issuing company

Mumbai, India - An amalgamation of two companies, Bell Packaging and EML Viscom, Globe Print n Pack is situated in Vasai, just north of Mumbai where it has three production spaces across 25,000 square feet. Being a leading producer of promotional transparent packaging for close to 20 years, the company recently commissioned Esko’s design and workflow software. With increasing success, the company sought to expedite design concepts, sampling and 3D visuals and prototypes and to develop completely new processes for their FMCG and Pharma clients. Esko’s ArtiosCAD, Deskpack and Plato software are used for this new workflow that yields greater precision and faster turnaround times for new projects.

Technology for transparent promotional packaging

Globe Print n Pack provides creative solutions to make consumer products stand out at the point of sale. It uses transparent PET, PP and PVC materials and films extensively for promotional packs for in-store marketing. Globe Print n Pack’s owner Mr Rahul Gupta believes, “The base of promotional packaging is to draw the consumer’s attention, to enhance the product image and boost the brand. Our promotional packages have to be elegant and colourful to enhance the sales appeal of the merchandise.”

Head of Packaging Design at Globe Print n Pack Mr Vijay Dhamne says, “ArtiosCAD is helping us in building 3D models which are shared with brand owners. If the concept designs are still in the approval stage, new design iterations based on additional briefs by the client can be executed at a faster pace with Esko software. In ArtiosCAD, a variety of structures and design styles are available that only require dimensional inputs in order to generate cartons in the required sizes. Earlier, before we installed the Esko software, we needed to create and input key lines to process the file for prepress which consumed time. When we used other multi-purpose software such as CorelDRAW the positioning and fixing the number of ups easily consumed more than an hour, but with Esko’s DeskPack and Plato solutions, the operational timing has been brought down to half an hour and with absolute precision and to create print-ready production files.”

Speaking about the company's in-house design development for its customers Dhamne says, “Most brands use printed PET for their promotions and gift packaging. The product is clearly visible inside and elegant decoration of the outer carton draws attention. When products are presented with see-through diecut windows, glueing is often not needed. Transparent packages are popular among promotional cosmetics producers and distributors.” The company also supplies promotional packaging solutions to the beverage, gift, household goods segments and a few other markets. In packaging decoration, Globe Print n Pack has developed options that include offset litho printing and hot foil stamping.

Rahul Gupta says, “Esko’s software has helped us in developing key line designs and also in filming a short video on how to form a pack by diecutting flat substrates, which useful both for brand owners and the workers in the converting and finishing department. Apart from this out of the way help, Esko is well organized in India and its sound technical team can support and assist our designers.” The company's hands-on owner concludes by adding, “Global Print n Pack is growing annually by around 15% while approximately 16% of our finished goods are exported. We have a plan for future expansion and are looking at processing and printing on an even larger variety of substrates using digital presses.”
