Historically, folding carton production has been a sheet-fed offset process that requires significant make-ready time and generates excess waste. The enhanced HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press delivers high quality, high productivity and compelling, cost-saving efficiencies that forward-thinking converters cannot ignore, causing a seismic shift of traditional folding carton jobs from analog to digital.

"The packaging market is changing, and converters are recognizing HP Indigo digital printing technology as a viable solution to add value through brand differentiation, faster time to market, cost reduction and increased environmental sustainability," said Alon Bar-Shany, general manager, Indigo division, HP.   • Nosco Inc., a Waukegan, Illinois-based print provider, which is investing in a second HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press to add capacity, reduce lead times and save money on short-run jobs.
  • Hucais Printing International Co. Limited, which purchased the first three HP Indigo 30000 Digital Presses in China to expand packaging innovation.
  • Farmografica, which purchased the first HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press in Argentina.

Nosco becomes first in the world to install second HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press

Nosco, Inc., the first print operation in North America to offer clients packaging designs created by the HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press, plans to expand its operations by doubling production capabilities for digital printed cartons with a second HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press installation. It will now be the only company in the world to run operations with two of these devices. The new press will be installed and begin operation in August 2016 in Nosco's Digital On_Demand Solutions Center in Bristol, Pennsylvania. While Nosco has served the healthcare packaging market for many years with conventional printing technologies, the company credits the HP Indigo 30000 with attracting new customers in healthcare and other markets.

"This investment will shorten lead times, while expanding our capacity to offer customized, short-to-medium run order quantities and will support the growing need for serialized and personalized packaging, said Russ Haraf, president, Nosco. Hucais buys first HP Indigo 30000 Digital Presses in China to embrace new packaging opportunities

Hucais purchased three new HP Indigo 30000 Digital Presses, marking the product's first entry into China. The presses will be installed across Hucais' three printing centers in Dongguan, Qinghai and Shandong. As a leader in China's packaging industry, Hucais is committed to providing high-quality services and increased customization solutions. The purchase demonstrates Hucais' comprehensive development in digital packaging as well as its determination to embrace new opportunities in China's packaging market.

Farmografica goes digital with the HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press

Farmografica produces folding carton applications for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics markets with traditional printing technology and is expanding into digital printing for the first time. The company is purchasing the first HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press in Argentina. With the new HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press, Farmografica will be able to efficiently produce high-quality, B2-format applications with variable data at any run length.

"Farmografica currently leverages sheet-fed offset presses, and we've been looking for a digital press solution to produce short runs with high print quality to match our offset presses and reduce set up time and waste. However, the digital presses we've seen have either been slow sheet-fed or web fed," said Martin Esposito, director of operations, Farmografica. "In my 10 years of printing industry experience, the 29-inch HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press is the first digital press that is ideal for the high-value folding carton jobs we produce for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics markets."

B2Pack purchases first HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press with Corona in Europe to print on plastics

B2Pack, a Spain-based company, is installing the first HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press with Corona in Europe. The company, which currently produces digitally printed labels with an HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press and packaging with offset technology, is expanding its capabilities with the HP Indigo 30000. The press will enable the company to discover high-margin opportunities with metalized board, synthetic media, security applications and embellishments and offer its cosmetics and perfumery, pharmaceutical, food, spirits, oils, chocolates and textile customers more value.

"More than 30 years ago, we were pioneers in printing with plastics on conventional technology, and today we are the first in Europe to purchase the enhanced HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press with Corona to print on synthetic materials," said Ignacio Manero de la Fuente, chief of marketing and sales, B2Pack. "We anticipate moving 30 percent of our conventional jobs to the HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press to gain new efficiencies, and we want to leverage all of the press' versioning and embellishment capabilities to offer new high-value, high-margin applications that no one else in Europe can efficiently produce today."

colordruck banks on digital print for packaging

colordruck W. Mack GmbH & Co. KG in Baiersbronn, a tradition-steeped family enterprise with more than 200 employees, is investing in an HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press to respond to increased demand for industrial and commercial packaging solutions. The press will be installed in the summer of 2016, and the company will launch a new web-to-print solution for packaging in October. colordruck will leverage the press to sustainably improve its production performance for more than a billion folding boxes and build new areas of business.
