Press release from the issuing company
Bristol, UK - Kent, UK-based Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) has been working with local company Wallace Print for more than a decade.
Wallace Print is a leading large format digital and screen printer offering a 24/7 one-stop print service to a wide variety of primarily-local businesses and organisations. Since June 2014, it has been working on a window graphics project at the University’s new Augustine House flagship library and student services building. The frequently changing graphics – used to advertise upcoming guest speakers – are printed on Drytac’s SpotOn printable vinyl.
Suitable for short-term indoor graphics applications, SpotOn™ is 100µ (4 mil) high quality, ink-receptive printable vinyl, developed specifically for the creation of short-term vibrant graphics requiring quick and easy application and removal.
Chris Payne, Sales Manager at Wallace Print, explains: “We use Drytac’s SpotOn film because it is so easy to work with. The space we have to work with in Canterbury city centre-based CCCU Augustine House is very tight and we have limited access; SpotOn offers the flexibility we need to access the full window and achieve a fitting to the high standards we’re renowned for.”
Available in clear matte frosted, clear gloss, white matte and white gloss versions, Drytac SpotOn is printable by solvent, eco-solvent, HP Latex and UV inkjet techniques. Key to the simplicity of application is a ‘dot pattern’ printed pressure sensitive adhesive which allows the printable film to be easily applied – bubble free – on a wide variety of smooth interior surfaces including walls, windows, glass and more.
Chris Payne continues: “We use a range of materials dependent on the longevity of the window graphic. For this customer, we reverse print the graphics onto SpotOn clear gloss using our Fujifilm flatbed, backed up with white, which means we can fit to the inside of the window despite the limited access.
“Drytac SpotOn self-adhesive printable vinyl is perfect for quick change projects such as the CCCU windows as it allows for a quicker install and removal. The window graphics change on a frequent basis and SpotOn allows for a quick and easy removal prior to the next graphic being fitted.”
Grant Tilford, who is responsible for Design and Production at CCCU, adds: “We have worked with Wallace Print for almost 10 years on multiple projects. When the requirement for the regularly changing window graphics arose at Augustine House, the main challenge was fitting it in such a tight space and being able to quickly change the graphics on a frequent basis.
“When Wallace Print suggested using Drytac SpotOn, it seemed to tick all of our requirements. We now have bubble free, perfectly fitted window graphics on display in an area that would have proven to be problematic with a standard vinyl application.”
