Midwest Commercial Printer Partners With Local Community to Invest In Latest Print Technology

Press release from the issuing company

Jefferson City, MO – Modern Litho, a national leading custom publication and commercial print organization in Jefferson City, Missouri announced today the purchase and upcoming installation of a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 press.  The 10-color perfector press will include double aqueous coating units and be equipped with CutStar in-line sheeting technology.

“We currently produce more than 350 different custom publications for our clients, as well as catalogs and commercial product marketing collateral. Print communications are on the rise as organizations are once again seeing tremendous value in it,” said Darrell Moore, President of Modern Litho. “I can tell you about all of the bells and whistles, but what’s more important is how this press will positively affect our employees, clients, and prospective clients with performance, quality, and production timelines,” Moore added.

The Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 will join an impressive assemblage of equipment and technology in Modern Litho’s recently expanded 73,000 square foot facility in Jefferson City.  The organization also serves the local St. Louis market with a second production and sales facility in St Louis.  The company partnered with the City of Jefferson, Cole County, and Jefferson City Public Schools for an $8 Million revenue bond allowing for additional future expansion and strategic equipment acquisitions.  The planned growth includes a pledge of approximately 50 new positions to be added at the Modern Litho Jefferson City location over the next five years.

“Our capacity will increase significantly, enabling us to offer additional product capabilities and increased flexibility in meeting customer delivery timelines,” said Darla Porter, CEO.  She added “The growth of our print volume over the past three years has been tremendous at a time when print and digital have struggled to find harmony in the marketing landscape.  What we’re experiencing at Modern Litho is an alignment of the two technologies – print and digital - in ways that have opened new communication paths for our customers, and print remains a cornerstone of that.  With partners like Heidelberg, it’s possible for our industry to advance and answer the needs of these marketers with solutions that make a difference.”  The new XL 106 is slated to be in operation in September 2016.

Among other recent accomplishments, Modern Litho was named to the 2015 Publishing Executive Top 20 Magazine Printers list and ranked #181 on the 2015 Printing Impressions Top 400 Printers list. Modern Litho also boasts in excess of 12 unique certifications and designations for quality, environmental stewardship, and in-house production staff certification expertise.
