High-performance UV LED systems with live print demonstrations are a focus of the trade fair appearance

Shorewood IL USA - At the eleven-day drupa trade fair beginning at the end of May, leading global UV systems manufacturer IST METZ will be displaying its products for the printing industry on a stand extending to 400 m². Both traditional UV lamp and UV LED systems will be shown at our stand B10 in hall 2, and it will also be possible to observe them in a live production demonstration.

IST METZ GmbH in collaboration with its subsidiary Integration Technology Ltd., which specializes in UV systems for digital printing products, provides the most expansive portfolio of UV systems in the world. The company supplies virtually all levels of UV solutions to the printing industry for sheet-fed, web-fed and digital printing applications.

IST METZ will be showing live practical applications of its systems by way of a printing press on its stand, demonstrating the use of IST traditional UV lamp systems for printing packaging and IST UV LED systems for commercial printing on a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL75-6+L (UV-Anicolor) machine. The press will run four times a day and produce a printed product developed especially for this event to highlight the benefits that our proven UV technologies has to offer.

The focus of IST’s drupa appearance will be the easy exchange between the LAMPcure and LEDcure product concept for sheet-fed, web-fed and narrow-web printing. IST METZ can equip its UV units in such a way that they can be switched to operate either with traditional UV lamps or with UV LEDs. The housing, cooling and electrical supply are identical for both systems; just the cassette with the light source needs switching in the printing press. This true hybrid concept is of particular interest to printers who would like to set up their presses to suit individual job requirements, and do so with great simplicity. If they acquire the one technology, they always have the option of switching to the other at a later date. If their customers’ requirements change, they can easily retrofit the other system. This concept called “Hot Swap” will also be demonstrated at the IST stand with the aid of the MBS system for label printing. This system was first demonstrated at Labelexpo Europe last autumn.

IST METZ recommends use of its UV LED systems to commercial printers who have not yet had much to do with UV curing. “The very particular benefits of UV technology comes into play here: dry in just seconds, processing can continue immediately significantly reducing paper waste and increasing production efficiency”, says Holger Kühn, Managing Director Sales at IST METZ GmbH. “UV LED technology is especially suitable for 4, 5 or 6 color printing without complex inline finishing effects. We have been doing our on press homework in this area over the past years since our first showing of functioning UV LED at drupa 2008, and are in a position to offer our customers an unrivalled high-performance system with a benefit no other supplier can offer, the strength and reputation of the IST Metz name behind the product."
