NY Printer Pioneers Virtual Printing

Press release from the issuing company

Editor's Note: Please see below for an important note about this press release.

Seizing upon renewed interest in so-called virtual reality, Perth, N.Y.'s Family Brothers Printing is introducing what it calls "Virtual Printing."

The company, founded in the 3rd Century BC by a family of marauding Visigoths and opening as a sheetfed offset printer in upstate New York in the 1820s, had always been forward thinking. "We anticipated the fall of the Roman Empire," said Ed Family, the company's current president, "largely because we helped hasten it."

Seeing a decline in offset print volumes over the past two decades, Family and family knew immediate action was needed. And thus was born "Virtual Printing."

"In our industry, the worst thing there is is an idle press," said Family. "So with 'Virtual Printing,' you put on a helmet, visor, gloves, the whole shebang, and experience hyper-realistic images of busy printing presses." "Virtual Printing" is being introduced solely as a for-the-trade service, but may expand to allow today's kids to experience printing firsthand.

"The next best thing to printing," said Family, "is virtual printing."

Below:  April Fools!  This isn't a real press release.  It's a joke.  It's also a WhatTheyThink tradition and we're glad to bring it to you each year.  A little levity to help you enjoy your day.  Cheers!
