Wallace Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: WCS) today announced that M. David Jones, 53, will become the company's Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer effective December 1, 2000. With this appointment, Jones succeeds Neele E. Stearns, Jr., a long-time board member, who became Chairman in January following the retirement of Robert Cronin. Mike Duffield, who has been acting CEO since January, reassumes his role as President and Chief Operating Officer. Jones, a former senior executive of Cummins Engine Company, Inc., most recently served as President of Fleetguard/Nelson, Inc., the company's filtration business headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. He began his career with Cummins in 1970 after receiving a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Technological University. Jones earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1975. He is also a director of Neodesic, a Chicago-based Internet company. Commenting on his appointment, Jones said, "I look forward to joining Wallace and undertaking the challenges of being its Chairman and CEO. Although I have a lot to learn about the industry and the company, I am impressed with the way Wallace has positioned itself to provide 'total print management' services to its customer base. We plan to build on that solid base. Our goal will be to continue to increase the value we bring to customers and to add value to our shareholders."
