WAM!NET Opens Demo Center for the Entertainment Industry

EAGAN, Minn. WAM!NET Inc., a leading provider of digital content management services for the global media industry, today announced that it is establishing a customer demonstration center office in the Los Angeles area to serve its growing customer base, which today includes several industry leaders, such as MillFilm, BBC Worldwide Americas and Illusion Arts. Located in Santa Monica, Calif., the new office will provide WAM!NET clients with a state-of-the art demonstration center for its suite of networking, storage, workflow application services like its rendering outsourcing service, Render On Demand (ROD!Å). The demonstration center also will be a production management office for the WAM!NETÆ ROD! Service with technical specialists available to help animation, design and visual effects professionals. WAM!NET services already are in use by several entertainment industry leaders. For example, "Cyberworld" an animated IMAX feature film that was released in early October. Additionally, the company's networking services for video delivery were used last summer by Mill Film during the production of "Gladiator" - Ridley Scott's summer blockbuster - to securely forward dailies from London to Los Angeles. WAM!NET also announced that it has recruited seven industry veterans - Scott McGrail, Tim D. Elliott, Mark Weathers, Steve Chen, Genny Yee, Doug Moldawsky and Gary Meyer - to bolster its current staff of entertainment industry professionals based out of the entertainment demonstration center.
