Along with its own program of sustainability, manroland is proud to sponsor The Business of Green Media Conference this Thursday, January 22. Several prominent manroland customers, including Alonzo Printing in Hayward, California, also are taking an active role by sponsoring this innovative and informative conference, to be held at California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly) in San Luis Obispo, California. manroland features outstanding products, services, and consumables that provide printers with the necessary tools to enhance their sustainability programs and to help earn environmental certification.
“manroland has engineered its presses and printcom products for efficient manufacture, and to give printers the tools to minimize waste and energy usage,” said Roland Ortbach, Vice President of Corporate and Commercial Web Sales for manroland Inc.
A full day program of speakers and workshops will help printers and graphic arts suppliers to better understand the latest trends in sustainability. The sessions are designed to provide valuable and essential information to achieve the current levels of certification for sustainability.
Jim Duffy, President of Alonzo Printing and recipient of an American Printer magazine Environmental Excellence Award in 2008, will deliver an address on SGP – Sustainable Green Partnership. “California is the ideal location for this conference because it is the pioneer in environmental issues,” said Duffy. “In addition to learning best practices, printers attending this conference will learn first-hand what the most progressive print buyers expect from ‘green’ printers.”
“Sustainability represents a revenue stream and a matter of profitability for the printing industry,” said Dr. Harvey Levenson, a Professor and head of the Graphic Communication Department at CalPoly. “Print buyers increasingly want printers who don’t just talk sustainability, but actually are involved in it.”
