General Converting and Challenge Printing Join Growing Ranks of PPC Converter Members

Press release from the issuing company

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Paperboard Packaging Council recently announced that two new folding carton converters joined the association: General Converting, Inc. and The Challenge Printing Co.

Longtime commercial and label printers, Challenge Printing of Clifton, NJ, recently began manufacturing folding cartons after recognizing the need for cost effective, short runs in the pharmaceutical sector. They leveraged their digital printing capabilities to fill this need, and since then have expanded their facilities and equipment to manufacture carton orders of any size.

Headquartered Bolingbrook, IN, General Converting has supplied folding cartons and POP displays to the food, confections, housewares, DVD/media, and other industries since 1982. They are FSC, SFI, and PEFC certified, use 100% renewable energy, and offer co-packing and fulfillment services.

Including General Converting and Challenge Printing, PPC has welcomed 14 converter members to the association over the past year. The others are: Autajon Packaging–Two C Pack, Caraustar, Foremost Graphics Group, Hanover Packaging, Master Packaging, McLean Packaging, MinMor Industries, Preferred Printing & Packaging, Inc., Rondo-Pak, Sandusky Packaging Corp., Trojan Litho Corp., and Vogel Carton, LLC.

“PPC’s membership represents more than 80% of the folding carton industry by volume,” said Ben Markens, President of PPC. “And this is due in no small part to the fact that the association offers value to converters of all kinds, from new or independent converters to large integrated firms.”

PPC offers members a plethora of educational resources, including biannual Folding Carton Boot Camps, technical and production seminars, webinars, and white papers. Additionally, PPC provides converters of all sizes with the only folding carton-specific data reports in the industry and opportunities to participate in publicity-generating programs such as TICCIT and the North American Paperboard Packaging Competition.
