Press release from the issuing company
Kimoha was established in 1988 as one of the first label printing companies in the UAE. Today it has more than 300 employees and specializes in self-adhesive labels, flexible packaging materials for numerous industries including cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food.
A fresh approach
Kimoha won the award thanks to the print quality it was able to achieve with its Xeikon 3300 digital label press with a DCoat 330 finishing unit in producing its project, ‘Ajmal Exclusive Room Freshener.’ The rich looking label printed on a sliver PP substrate incorporated a subtle blue arc to break up the background colors of red and gold. It also features a halftone screen that slightly subdues the brightness of the gold background. This label is designed to be used in quality surroundings.
“To win an award is just one milestone and highlight in our daily business,” states a proud Vinesh Bhimani, Managing Director of Kimoha. “Awards are motivators for us to improve even further and set higher quality goals for our organization. And they are a valuable marketing tool as well.”
Pushing the boundaries
Kimoha is committed to continually pushing production boundaries, an effort in which it is aided by Xeikon technology. Bhimani states, “We believe that we invested in the right technology when we chose Xeikon, and our decision was validated by the great response we got when we communicated its impressive print-quality- to the market. Our Xeikon press and the results we are able to achieve support our desire to increase our growth in the digital label market. The FINAT award was icing on the cake.”
The 35th FINAT Label Award Competition attracted 260 award entries from 45 companies representing 25 countries. The judging panel was chaired by industry expert Tony White, who was supported by regulars Steve Wood (UK), Murat Sipahioglu (Turkey), Rik Olthof (design expert from Cartils Branding & Packaging design agency in the Netherlands) and Prof. Dr. Efe Gencoglu (Vice Manager of Marmara University, Turkey and new chairman of the Turkish Label Competition).
High quality and diversity of applications
“The diversity of applications never ceases to amaze us. This year was no exception, with 81 entries winning awards including a Best in Show and a special Judges’ award,” Tony White, industry expert, comments. “The overall quality level has improved, with fewer entries being rejected for mis-register! This made the selection of the category and group winners all the more difficult. Many of the designs can be described as adventurous and eye-catching, which indicates that brand owners are using more visual approaches to attract impulse purchase customers.”
The growing role of digital
“Recognition by FINAT of the growing role of digital printing in the label business is a huge step in moving this market forward,” Filip Weymans, Director Segment Marketing of Xeikon says. “We are proud that our customer Kimoha was the first winner in this important new category, and we hope to see even more participation from Xeikon customers in the coming years.”
