Fujifilm to Debut All New Uvistar Hybrid 320 UV Press at SGIA

Press release from the issuing company

Experience the ultimate in flatbed and roll versatility

Hanover Park, Ill., – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division is pleased to announce the world-wide premier of the all-new Uvistar Hybrid 320 UV press at the upcoming SGIA Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Uvistar Hybrid 320 is a 3.2m, combination flatbed and roll printer, capable of producing high quality output at speeds of up to 2,100 square feet per hour. Utilizing FUJIFILM Dimatix Q-Class printheads and Fujifilm Uvijet inks, the Uvistar Hybrid 320 prints full grayscale output of exceptional quality and delivers a wide gamut of vibrant colors. The press is available in an eight channel configuration delivering CMYK, Lc, Lm, Lk and Orange inks. A nine channel configuration is available that adds White ink.

Several innovative technologies come together, providing a breakthrough in hybrid production speed, quality and versatility, setting the Uvistar Hybrid 320 apart from the competition.

The first innovation to drive these enhancements is the Versa-Drop technology of the FUJIFILM Dimatix Q-Class printheads. These heads allow the press to image in grey scale with droplet sizes ranging from 10–30 pl which produce the finest details at the fastest speeds. Taking full advantage of eight ink channels, the Uvistar Hybrid 320 produces outstanding image quality and the inclusion of orange ink increases the color gamut by 30 percent. The Uvistar Hybrid also combines light colors (Lc,Lm,Lk) with Orange and CMYK to dramatically boost performance to speeds up to 2,100 square feet per hour.

Another innovation of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is the patented tri-lobal belt and six-zone intelligent vacuum system. This system delivers best-in-class media handling and ensures that all types of substrates track accurately in roll or flatbed mode. Additionally, a dancer bar with spreaders keeps even the most difficult roll media from wrinkling before it enters the print area. Rear pinch rollers engage as rigid material transitions from the print area on to the exit tables.

“The Uvistar Hybrid 320 redefines thinking about the capabilities of a combination flatbed and roll printer,” says Becky McConnell, product marketing manager, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division. The tri-lobal belt and zoned vacuum system really minimize the potential for media to skew which is an inherent problem with most hybrid printers.  The accurate media tracking is just one of the reasons that the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is able to print at high speed and maintain such exceptional quality.”

An additional innovation of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is the continuous board capability that increases productivity when feeding multiple sheets of the same stock during production. This feature offers time savings between sheets as the print carriage continues moving. No time is lost due to the carriage returning to its ‘park’ position, requiring the job to be started again.

The color gamut of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is made possible with Fujifilm’s Uvijet US ink including CMYK, Lc, Lm, Lk, and Orange in the standard ink set. The lights and Orange expand the color gamut to match challenging Pantone® and corporate or branded colors. The highly opaque White provides excellent coverage, and the ink delivers excellent adhesion to a broad range of substrates.

“We are looking forward to demonstrating the exceptional print quality and print speed of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 on the show floor at SGIA,” added McConnell. “It’s a great addition to our wide format line-up which allows Fujifilm to reach more customers, and will enable print shops to add versatility, expand capabilities, and ultimately win more work.”

Following the US debut at SGIA, global availability of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 will be early 2016.
