SGS International forms exclusive partnership with Prime Label Consultants

Global print and packaging company joins forces with nutrition labeling experts  

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – SGS International (SGS), a global leader in package production and related marketing services, announced today its exclusive partnership with Prime Label Consultants Inc. (PLC) of Washington, D.C. The partnership provides an unmatched resource for label creation and compliance in advance of proposed Food and Drug Administration changes to the Nutrition Facts Label.

The FDA’s anticipated modifications – expected to be finalized by the FDA in early 2016 – will be the most extensive nutrition policy changes to occur in decades. The goal of the SGS/PLC partnership is to create efficient systems and services to help the food industry comply with these new regulations while maintaining their brand value.

While details are being finalized, anticipated changes to label information include emphasizing calories and added sugars, adjusting serving sizes and claims and incorporating a new graphic look. These changes will affect 25 years of packaging strategy and materially impact brand identity for food products. 

In advance of these regulatory changes, food companies will need to anticipate and plan for this market-disrupting event. SGS and PLC will provide a variety of services aimed at preparing, educating and advising food and beverage manufactures regarding the implications and requirements of the pending legislation.
