Quark Software Inc. Presenting the Smart Content Schema at Balisage: The Markup Conference

Press release from the issuing company

Dave White, Quark CTO, Presenting “Smart Content for High-value Communications”

DENVER, CO – Quark Software Inc. is participating for the first time at Balisage: The Markup Conference, an annual event for professionals in the area of markup for structuring and managing information. Balisage is a peer-reviewed conference, meaning all speakers must submit an original paper for review and acceptance by industry experts. Quark’s CTO, Dave White, will present his paper titled, “Smart Content for High-value Communications.”

Fourteen years after the original XML specification reached recommendation status there is still a relatively low number of XML-based publishing system deployments for non-technical, high-value communications. Dave White’s session will cover:

  • How non-technical marketing departments, product managers, knowledge workers such as financial and legal analysts, and enterprise publishing departments can overcome the challenges of XML adoption
  • How structured content enables the automation of business-critical communication
  • Overcoming roadblocks to implementing an XML-based dynamic publishing solution
  • An introduction to the Smart Content Schema for non-technical communicators

The Smart Content Schema is both simple in its design and powerful in its flexibility. “With a focus on the user, the purpose of the Smart Content Schema is to enable the broad adoption of XML tool sets and the simplification of adding intelligence into authored content,” said White. “At Balisage, I invite attendees to share their feedback on the approach as well as interest in working with Quark toward standardization of a smart content schema.”
