Atlanta, Ga. – This year’s recipient of the Process and Product Quality Division Scholarship is Garrett A. Fisher. It is a singular scholarship for $1,000 and is presented to a student who has demonstrated a significant interest in the pulp and paper industry and how quality management techniques can improve the industry.
Fisher is currently a junior at Western Michigan University. He is pursuign a dual degree in both paper and chemical engineering with a focus on energy management.
Fisher will be initiated into the Western Michigan Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society this semester, an undergraduate representative in the AIChE student chapter and is a member of the Ts’ai Lun paper engineering student chapter.
Last year, he interned as a power and recovery process control intern for RockTenn in West Point, VA and he currently is interning at Perrigo in Allegan, MI, in the packaging division using his specialty expertise in the paper industry to improve their packaging process.
After graduation, Fisher plans to work in the specialty papers industry, food science industry, or pharmaceutical industry.
