DUSSELDORF, Germany--May 8, 2004-- Creo Inc. continues to build and expand its broad range of digital proofing solutions. Creo presents these new proofing developments in Hall 4, Stand B10 at drupa 2004, the largest international trade show for print media production.
Version 2.0 of the Integris(TM) Proof Controller with enhanced ICC color management, streamlined job control, device calibration, and connectivity for Integris proofers to the Creo Prinergy and Brisque workflow systems.
New Brisque Proof Agent connects Integris proofers directly to the Brisque workflow system, allowing color management and imposition proof layout to be fully controlled from within Brisque.
The new Integris Desktop proofing solution for professional low-cost color proofing.
An expanded line of Integris proofing media with the introduction of three new proofing papers for the Integris proofing solutions that feature EPSON Stylus PRO inkjet printers.
The Veris(TM) proofer, an ideal remote proofer for print buyers with critical color needs.
The latest version of the Synapse InSite Internet portal into prepress integrating directly with a prepress workflow system and providing printers, print buyers and their clients with a proven solution for proofing.
New Integris Proof Controller 2.0
Version 2.0 uses an improved wizard for easier one iteration calibration. Visual calibration can also be applied, allowing Integris users to modify colors using dot gain curves and still calibrate the printer by measurement. For many users, this will eliminate the need to adjust the color with another profiling package. Advanced users can use a Wizard to create their own baselines. The Integris Print Controller 2.0 also features:
Improved baselines for better matching
Adobe PostScript 3(TM) with full PDF 1.5, PDF/X1, PDF/X1a and PDF/X3 support
RIP resolution can be reduced for faster processing
ICC DeviceLink profile support for improved preservation of black
More extensive PANTONE, HKS and Toyo spot color libraries
New Integris Brisque Proof Agent
The new Brisque Proof Agent (BPA) is an integral part of the Integris 2.0 Proof Controller. Processing times are often cut in half since the Brisque Proof Agent eliminates the combine step on the Brisque and color performance is significantly enhanced. This new feature will be available as a free downloadable patch for existing Integris proofing installations.
New Integris Desktop at drupa
Creo introduces the 2-up Integris Desktop proofing solution featuring the new 17"-wide (43 cm) EPSON Stylus Pro 4000 printer, integrated with Creo workflow for streamlined job control and end-to-end color management for quality color proofing. With a low capital investment and accurate color output, the Integris Desktop complements other Creo Integris and Veris proofers, providing an effective remote proofing solution.
New Integris Inkjet Media
The three new proofing papers for Integris proofers being introduced at drupa, have been engineered and quality assured by Creo to deliver optimum and consistent contone proofs when used with Creo color management and Integris-qualified inks and printers. All three new media are optimized for use with Integris Qualified Epson UltraChrome(TM) Ink and are now available for the entire lineup of Integris solutions. These new choices add to the existing media line to provide a wide selection that includes high-quality color proofing, single and double-sided imposition proofing and general-purpose media. Like all Creo products, Integris media and Integris Qualified inks adhere to strict qualification standards to ensure high performance with repeatable results.
Two of the new media, Integris Glossy 190 and Integris Semi-Matte 190, are resin-coated photobase proofing media that offer excellent color performance and value for general color proofing applications. Integris IrisPRO(TM) Commercial Semi-Matte 235, designed to simulate the look of the popular IrisPRO Commercial media, is a new, premium performance color proofing media with neutral tint, exceptional color gamut and shadow detail.
The Integris line of proofing solutions includes the new Integris Desktop proofer with the EPSON Stylus Pro 4000; the Integris 400 with the wide-format EPSON Stylus PRO 7600 for 4-up proofing; and two models of the 8-up Integris 800 with the EPSON Stylus PRO 9600 and 10600.
Remote Proofing with Veris
The Veris proofer, a breakthrough in proofing technology, is now being used around the world for production of premium-quality proofs for large and small commercial printers, publication printers, packaging printers, and creative agencies.
At drupa, Creo is conducting a challenging live demonstration of identical proofs, produced in real time. The same proofing file is being simultaneously printed by three Veris proofers on the Creo stand. Identical proofs, produced in real time, prove that remote proofing works now.
When print buyers produce a high-quality color proof with the Veris proofer in their own facility, the Creo Certified Process(TM) automatically verifies that the proofer's calibration is correct and recent, that the correct color profile is used, and that the specified ink and media are loaded, to provide customers with a visual assurance of the integrity of the Veris proofing process.
Creo Participates in FOGRA Remote Proofing Demo
Creo is committed to the development and adoption of remote proofing by participating in the FOGRA Remote Proofing Project at Drupa. The objective of FOGRA Graphic Technology Research Association is to undertake research into, to develop and to apply printing technology, and to help the printing industry to use the results obtained. Visitors can see a standard proofing file containing the FOGRA media control strip produced by the Integris Desktop and the Veris proofing solutions on the Creo stand. Visitors can take these proofs to the FOGRA stand (Hall 5, Stand A02) and have them measured and compared to the FOGRA standard for contract proofs. The comparison shows excellent results to provide a practical and quantitative demonstration of the potential and performance of remote proofing.
Soft Proofing with Synapse InSite
New Synapse InSite version 4.0 features enhanced ease of use for file transfer, collaboration and tracking online in a managed, collaborative environment. The new Reader Order view allows users to see the order of pages, whether the page position has been assigned or not, and at any stage of prepress. It provides a quick, easy visual reference for job status tracking.
The new version also has the ability to view Reader Spreads and host independent or collaborative viewing sessions concurrently. User groups can be created to simplify the task of initiating reviews or granting job access. Other features improve communication and support productivity gains in the workflow, including a Job Information Sheet that allows printers to define and configure forms to capture and share any information about a job.
Color Accurate Soft Proofing Technology Demonstration
New technologies and process controls allow designers and their print buying customers to remotely view a print job with an accurate representation of the color that matches a printed proof. Synapse InSite software is also being used in a technology demonstration of color-accurate soft proofing featuring qualified color monitors and calibration equipment, and color management software, such as the new Profile Wizard(TM) Mio color management software.
