Press release from the issuing company
DUSSELDORF, Germany--May 6, 2004-- EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced enhanced versions of EFI Designer Edition(TM) 4.0 and EFI Photo Edition(TM) 4.0 for the design and digital photography markets. These sophisticated proofing and color management software solutions feature EFI's Best(TM) technology. The solutions are now on display at EFI's drupa stand (Hall 4, Stands B34/B40) at the Messe Dusseldorf in Germany.
Both EFI Designer Edition and EFI Photo Edition feature a new cross Mac OS X and Windows operating platform for greater flexibility in a variety of proofing environments, plus support for HP's CMYKplus standard for more robust color management. Both products are compatible with JDF v1.2, the open standard for electronic job ticketing, allowing seamless integration into any JDF-supported workflow.
"EFI's now offers an even more robust range of proofing solutions for the Design and Digital Photography markets," said Thorsten Breiding, VP & GM of EFI Proofing Solutions. "With cross-platform operability and JDF support, the fourth generation of EFI Designer Edition and Photo Edition offer powerful proofing solutions capable of optimizing almost any workflow."
EFI Designer Edition and EFI Photo Edition 4.0 now support the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 and the HP Designjet 30 and 130 in addition to more than 30 other inkjet printers.
EFI Designer Edition 4.0 is a Mac or Windows-based proofing solution for graphic artists, designers and professional printers. It incorporates the Adobe PostScript 3(TM) engine (Adobe CPSI), with PDF/X support, a nesting function and selectable RIP resolutions.
EFI Photo Edition 4.0 is a printing and proofing solution for digital photographers and photo labs that also offers cross-platform functionality and the Adobe PostScript 3 engine. Superior color management capabilities allow photographers to input RGB camera data, automatically convert it to CMYK, export as a CMYK-TIFF file and output the data in proof form. Users preferring the RGB workflow have the advantage of utilizing the complete color space of the printer to output bright, vivid photos.

EFI Designer Edition and EFI Photo Edition 4.0 will be available in June 2004 through certified EFI dealers and distributors.
