May 5, 2004 -- The International Color Consortium has published its second Progress Report covering the activities and accomplishments of the group during 2003 and early 2004.   Highlights include the approval and publication of Profile Specification 4.1, incorporating several improvements identified by ICC’s ongoing review of practical workplace issues in using the specification.   The Report also covers steps toward adapting the specification into an international standard through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the development of new tools to facilitate implementation of color management by users and a campaign to persuade color management vendors to eliminate restrictive licensing language.   The 16-page process color report contains messages from the chairman and technical secretary, complete information on the activities of each of the ICC’s six working groups including their objectives and an assessment of their progress towards improving the ICC specification and a list of members and liaison organizations.     According to ICC Chairman Craig Revie of Fuji Film Electronic Imaging, “Having created and refined a set of powerful color management tools, ICC is now giving priority to education and promotion to involve more people in ICC and help more people benefit from the Consortium’s work.”   ICC Secretary William K. “Kip” Smythe noted, “Membership participation was very strong in the past year, representing an endorsement of the Consortium’s founding policy of openness to anyone and everyone in the industry who wants to contribute to the work on ICC’s basic terms of free information exchange.”     Download a pdf version of the Report from the ICC web site athttp://www.color.org/iccprogressreport.pdf
