Enfocus Showcases Range of PDF Solutions at drupa 2004

Press release from the issuing company

Düsseldorf, Germany (drupa 2004), May 6, 2004 – Enfocus Software, the world leader in PDF workflow tools, is active on multiple fronts with its most significant presence ever at drupa (booth D78 in Hall 9). The company is showcasing its current range of PDF solutions, offered at special promotional prices; unveiling new technologies and previews of upcoming products; presenting informative shows on its own booth and at the new JDF Parc; providing comprehensive workflow demonstrations at partner booths; and participating in high-level outside tours for those seeking more in-depth information. Unveiling new technologies and products Instant PDF 3.0 At drupa 2004, Enfocus unveils Instant PDF 3.0; the successor to Instant PDF 2.0. Planned for commercial release in the second half of this year, Instant PDF 3.0 is a stand-alone application closely integrated with industry-leading page layout and PDF tools such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress? and Adobe Acrobat. Instant PDF 3.0 brings document creators and document receivers together by providing the tools needed to achieve the highest quality Certified PDF output. Document receivers (such as printers and publishers) create an Enfocus PDF Queue containing all the necessary settings to produce high quality PDF files according to the documents receiver’s specification. Document creators (such as graphic designers and ad agencies) load the resulting Enfocus PDF Queue to produce press-ready PDF files from their native layout application. (For more detail see press release: Enfocus Software Unveils Instant PDF 3.0 at drupa 04 released today). Technology preview of JDF and Job Ticket Support At drupa 2004, Enfocus is showing a technology preview of how job ticket support will be incorporated into all of its products. With Certified PDF at the core of its entire product line, Enfocus is the only company to offer truly reliable inter-company file exchange from start to finish. This is the ideal position from which to address the next major issue for graphic arts PDF workflows: job ticketing. During drupa 2004, Enfocus is previewing job ticket support that will be seamlessly incorporated into the entire product line. The job ticket technology will be incorporated into the Certified PDF workflow and will be stored in the PDF as XML data. This approach ensures that the job tickets become an integral part of the document receiver’s quality specifications. The technology preview will also include PitStop Server extracting job ticket information in multiple formats, including standard JDF, for easy integration with back-end MIS systems. Looking back “Drupa is a good time to look back on what a company has achieved over the last four years,” says David van Driessche, Enfocus CEO. “Four years ago PitStop was still in its 4.0 version and PitStop Server had barely been released. Since then we have extended the number of core technologies on which our products are based. Our PDF preflight technology has proven to be the most widely used on the market. Moreover, Enfocus Certified PDF has had a significant impact on the use of PDF in the graphics arts market, addressing a long-standing challenge: truly reliable file exchange.” “In further support of the industry, we launched CertifiedPDF.net, published the Enfocus PDF Guide, and contributed proactively to the setting of workable PDF quality specifications through the Ghent PDF Workgroup. We believe there is a need for a bold technological vision for inter-company workflows in the graphic arts, and we continue to deliver on this vision,” concludes van Driessche.
