Lake Image will launch Discovery CardInspect at Cartes 2014. Designed as a full featured in line production card inspection system, the Discovery CardInspect module, in combination with Discovery Multiscan, provides simplex or duplex quality inspection and control for high speed card production lines. Defects ranging from delamination, scratches and surface imperfections, to print registration, colour and die cut defects can be identified and removed from the production stream using in line tracking and divert functionality.

Combining two different imaging technologies, the CardInspect module is a precisely designed optical and mechanical assembly, optimised to highlight a range of defects typically encountered during a plastic card production process. Discovery Multiscan delivers a range of inspection tools, enabling full inspection of the cards, at rates up to 60,000 cards per hour.

As an added benefit the CardInspect module can potentially be integrated onto existing card transport equipment, dependent on the design, providing a cost effective functionality upgrade, without increasing the footprint of a production line. This enables a card producer to enhance their quality control performance, without the high costs of new card handling equipment. Alternatively Lake Image partner with some of the key card handling equipment manufacturers in the market and can supply a complete solution including feeder and transport if required.

Options include the addition of variable data integrity and control, read and print for inline personalisation and complete job integrity across multiple production processes.
