COLUMBUS, OH - The Hopkins Printing lobby, training room and upstairs offices were once again transformed into a health and wellness fair for its 100 employee owners. A team of nurses from Mount Carmel Medical Center spent 15 minutes with each employee assessing their blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Employees ended the health screenings with a new facial skin analysis and received information on sun exposure and skin damage.
"The 15-minute appointment created an open forum where employees could communicate and exchange information about their health with a professional on site. The process was both proactive and interactive, which makes it easy for us to encourage employees to live a healthier lifestyle," explains Kristin Cavote, who was the event coordinator and works in Human Resources at Hopkins.
Hopkins employees were also introduced to several local businesses and customers in an effort to coordinate wellness in their home lives as well. Representatives from Costco, New Balance, Lifetime Fitness, Lifeline of Ohio, Delta Dental and the Oswald Companies set up booths and offered literature and product samples.
Many key Hopkins vendors generously donated prizes for the conclusion of the fair. Employees were able to walk away with the important information of "knowing their numbers," but many also won excellent health-related prizes which included bicycles, camping equipment, cooking equipment, gift cards and Ohio State gear.
The leadership and employee owners at Hopkins understand that living a healthy lifestyle affects every part of their lives, whether at play, at rest, or working at what they do best - quality print.
