Press release from the issuing company
Graph Expo 14, Chicago IL -- Highcon announced today that the Highcon™ Euclid II+ digital cutting and creasing machine on show at Graph Expo 14 in Chicago, has been purchased by Carolina Graphic Services, a member of Interstate Resources, Inc. Container Division.
Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, the 10-year old business supplies offset printed, large format litho sheets, top sheets and paperboard to the converting/packaging markets that are used by CPG companies in a variety of POS/POP packaging presentations.
Ron Woodward, VP Sales of CGS "Our company has always focused on serving specialty and value-add markets. We have a reputation for providing rapid turnaround and a really high level of service. For some time we have been investigating digital technologies, and we went to see the Highcon Euclid in production at Glossop Cartons in the UK. It was clear this was just what we needed to provide the innovative short to medium runs our customers are demanding, but to date have been uneconomic with conventional equipment”
Chris Baker, Highcon VP Sales & Business Development; "Carolina Graphic Services is an innovative and visionary company that is a natural fit for the Euclid. They already have many ideas and plans to take advantage of the design flexibility and profitable short runs that are key benefits of the Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine."
The award winning Highcon Euclid is the first fully digital cutting and creasing machine for converting paper, labels, folding carton and microflute. The Euclid incorporates Highcon’s patent-pending ‘DART’ (Digital Adhesive Rule Technology) to produce creases, and high-speed laser optics to cut a wide range of substrates. By eliminating the conventional die-making process, the digital workflow enables converters and printers to increase profitability on short runs, improve design flexibility as well as time-to-market.
The Highcon Euclid II+ features the unique Highcon Integrated Digital Stripping Unit, which automatically removes waste from the smallest internal cutouts, eliminating the need to buy, setup or store a separate stripping tool. Other new features like double speed throughput, optical registration, optimized cutting algorithms and a fine cutting accelerator demonstrate advances in quality, productivity and functionality reflecting the production experience of Euclid customers around the world.
Highcon delivers the innovation and differentiation that printers, converters, brand owners and retailers have all been waiting for. By bringing the advantages of digital technology to post-print, Highcon is transforming “finishing” into a value adding process.
