Propak 2014 in Lagos brings in new orders for KBA
Propak took place from 1 to 3 September in Lagos, Nigeria, and according to the event’s managers it is the largest packaging trade fair in West Africa.
KBA has been active in Nigeria for many years and was one of about 60 exhibitors at the show. A host of other firms were also present at Propak despite the current outbreak of the Ebola virus. Around 1,300 packaging specialists visited the three-day event.
Employees from KBA Radebeul, KBA-Flexotecnica and KBA’s sales partner Exact Solutions manned a stand informing visitors about the world’s second-largest press manufacturer’s broad product portfolio for the packaging printing segment. This ranges from sheetfed offset presses for folding carton and flexo web presses for flexible packaging to digital coding systems, direct decoration on hollow containers and metal decorating. Print samples, press models and videos served to offer the visitors a deeper insight from a practical point of view. Furthermore, Ohannes Cherian, sales manager at KBA-Flexotecnica, held a well-attended presentation on the possible optimisation of flexo presses.
Along with the intensification and acquisition of new contacts, KBA received orders from Nigerian packaging printers for a five-colour Rapida 105 and a four-colour Rapida 75, both with additional coating kit. A six-colour Rapida 105 with coater has already gone into operation at Eskade Ventures in Lagos. Dominion Publishing House (Ota) also prints on a four-colour press with coater from this press series which is very popular in Africa. What is more, Jaro Properties in Lagos also recently received a five-colour Rapida 105 with coater. KBA sees good opportunities for extending its market share in this populous West African country.
