Marks and Spencer, Tesco, DHL Supply Chain, Taylors of Harrogate, Mamas & Papas and Kingfisher Group are just a handful of leading industry names set to unlock the key to their success at Packaging Innovations and Luxury Packaging London, taking place at the Business Design Centre on 30 September & 1 October.
The packed two-day learnShops programme will see some of the most inspirational industry speakers, offering real-life stories, advice and the latest concepts sweeping the industry. The seminars will showcase innovators and experts who can provide valuable insight into the latest developments, technologies and research.
The free-to-attend sessions will include Simon Oxley, Packaging Manager of Food at Marks and Spencer who will be taking a detailed look at ‘How to change consumers perceptions about packaging for the good’. Oxley will show how you can help your consumers reduce food waste, and why to recognise your brand for doing the right thing.
Continuing with this theme, Paul Young, Head of Packaging Services Europe for DHL Supply Chain will talk about ‘Equalize, eliminate, eat: is recycling packaging really necessary?’ Young will look at the alternatives to recycling packaging and the reasons why these should be considered before using recycling as a last resort.
Paul Earnshaw, Packaging Manager at Tesco will be presenting his topic - ‘A retailer’s view of the packaging industry’. Explaining why Tesco is particularly interested in the consumer and business benefits packaging can bring, but also why it needs to engage with the packaging industry.
Peter Aldous, Creative Services Director at Elmwood and Joe Goldsmith, Packaging Technician at Deodorants Global Design Centre, Unilever will be joining forces on ‘Brand realisation: testing the limits’
Pushchairs at the ready! Martyn Knight, Senior Creative Manager at Mamas & Papas will be talking about ‘Retail vs wholesale – the challenges’. Knight will guide you through the challenges Mamas & Papas has faced when adapting packaging for their own retail space, in order to work within a wholesale environment.
The demands on packaging are ever more complex, protect the product, sell the product, store the product, and be recyclable and reusable. At what point do we say no more? Kay Hedges, Packaging Development Manager at Kingfisher Group will look at the challenges we face and at how the costs of all of these fulfillment methods are not sustainable either financially or environmentally.
Christine Mau, EMEA Design Director at Kimberly-Clark will be talking about a similar subject in her seminar session ‘No boundaries: transforming ordinary products into extraordinary brand experience’, as she talks about the three principles that guide her work - DX3 – Dream, Dare and Dance.

Matthew Hunt, Packaging Buyer at Taylors of Harrogate, will also be addressing ‘How to use genuine consumer insight to guide packaging procurement strategy’. He will discuss how to use both the marketplace and changing consumer trends to add ‘true value’ to a brand via packaging.
