Kevin Bankston Named PIAS’ 2014 Person of the Year

Nashville, TN – Mr. Kevin Bankston, President of Baton Rouge Printing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was named by the Printing Industry Association of the South, Inc. (PIAS) as their Person of the Year. This honor was bestowed at a banquet held on June 17, 2014 during the PIAS Annual Convention at the Hilton SanDestin Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

Kevin was born in the summer of 1964. He grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he graduated from University High School in 1982, and went on to college to receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Louisiana State University in 1986.

At the age of 12, Mr. Bankston started helping out at his family's print shop. The printing company was started by his father in 1969. After graduating from LSU, Kevin went to work at the family business in the Sales department. Moving up through just about every department, Kevin became President of the company in 1996.

Mr. Bankston has served on several Board of Directors, both serving his industry as well as his community. He is a current State Board Member and State Secretary for the Coastal Conservation Association, an Association that purposes to advise and educate the public on conservation of marine resources. He is a former Board Member of the American Cancer Society, The Boys and Girls Club, as well as the Center for Coastal Conservation.

Mr. Bankson began serving on the PIAS Board of Directors in 2002 and continues to serve today. He began serving on the Executive Committee in 2005, and served as the Chairman of the Board from 2008 to 2009…a position held by his father in 1986 and who also was awarded PIAS Person of the Year honors in 1989.  

Kevin’s interests include water sports, fishing for speckled trout, and hunting ducks. He is an avid LSU athletics fan. Mr. Bankston currently resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his four children..David, Christopher, Mary Brent and William. 

The PIAS Person of the Year is chosen for service to the printing industry, community and betterment of the graphic arts industry as a whole.
