Hudson, NH USA - At IPEX 2014 in stand # S3-E290, Presstek is set to unveil three new eco-friendly CTP plate technologies including: Zahara - a plate for waterless press platforms; GemPlate - an open platform no-bake thermal plate that offers pH neutral biodegradable processing; and JT-BL - an aluminum plate designed for inkjet imaging.  A Presstek 52DI digital offset 4-colour press will also be featured in the stand as well as Presstek’s expanding portfolio of service options for print shops.

Presstek Zahara™ Waterless Plates

The Zahara plate is a new thermal CTP plate engineered for the print industry’s waterless presses, both sheetfed and narrow web applications. Compatible with standard offset and UV printing, the Zahara plate is ideally suited for print shops running a Codimag, KBA Genius 52 UV, KBA Rapida UV, Heidelberg SM 74 CD in addition to many other models. Zahara is ideal for small, half- and mid-size sheet formats, labels, packaging, and plastic cards.

Rated for up to 100,000 impressions, Zahara simplifies the platemaking process right out of the box. There is no cover film to remove, and Zahara can be imaged on any 830mn thermal CTP system. Once imaged, a simple rinse in a water wash unit is all that’s needed.  The cost, care, maintenance, messiness, and final disposal of chemistry based systems disappears. Zahara is the industry’s only true eco-friendly plate for waterless press platforms and has seen excellent success across the US and Europe in beta tests. 

Presstek GemPlate™ Open Platform Thermal Plate

GemPlate is an eco-friendly thermal plate that features a pH neutral biodegradable cleaning solution and an extended bath life with low replenishment rates. After imaging on standard 830mn CTP systems, GemPlate is cleaned in a low cost, compact, easy maintenance system. Rated for up to 100,000 impressions, Presstek’s GemPlate does not require pre- or post-baking. GemPlate has been engineered for many press platforms including those with Delta dampening systems. Customers using GemPlate have experienced excellent on press performance, high solvent resistance and wide press latitude.

VIM JT-BL™ Direct Inkjet Plate

VIM Technologies, a Presstek Company, introduces JT-BL, an aluminum plate designed for Epson® inkjet printers using the printer’s original ink cartridges.  The JT-BL plate enables for a low-cost, easy-to-use CTP solution with an extremely small footprint.  After imaging, plates go directly to press for impressions of 5,000 or less, and baking in a standard oven for impressions between 5,000 and 20,000.  Presstek will be demonstrating the JT-BL plate in the stand on an Epson 3880.

Factory Refurbished Presstek 52DI®

Also being demonstrated in the stand is a Presstek 52DI digital offset 4-colour 2-page landscape format press. The press is a factory refurbished model that’s been reconditioned to original specifications, passing Presstek’s comprehensive Certification Process. Presstek offers new and factory refurbished DI press models (34cm, 52cm, and 75cm).
