ATLANTA, Ga. – Clark H. Schabo, owner of Schabo Printing, will be presented the 2014 TAPPI Paul W. Magnabosco Outstanding Local Section Member Award in recognition of his many contributions to Lakes States TAPPI. The Award recognizes outstanding leadership and exceptional service to a Local Section which has resulted in significant or demonstrable benefits to Local Section members. The award will be presented to Mr. Schabo at the 2014 PaperCon Conference Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Nashville, TN, USA.
"Clark Schabo has been an active member of his community and his local TAPPI Section throughout the course of a long and distinguished career. His hard work and dedication serving the members of Lakes States TAPPI makes him an outstanding choice for this important award," said Larry N. Montague, TAPPI President and CEO. “Clark has worked tirelessly on many of programs and activities including heading up the local section’s membership services for many years as well as providing outstanding leadership while serving on the Lakes States TAPPI Executive Committee.”
Schabo began his career in 1961 at the Institute of Paper Chemistry (IPC) in the photography department. He attended the NCO Academy after being drafted to the Army in 1964, training soldiers to serve in Vietnam. After his military service, Schabo returned to IPC’s Printing Department as their Printing Manager. He started Schabo Printing in 1975 prior to ending his 27-year tenure at IPC in 1989. Schabo Printing is still in business today.
A member of Lakes States TAPPI for over 30 years he has served on the Executive Committee for many years as Membership Services Administrator. He retired from the administrative position in 2011 after 23 years but remains an active member of the Executive Committee. His company did the mailings and printing work for Lake States TAPPI for over 30 years. In 2012 the Lake States TAPPI/North Central PIMA executive board created a scholarship in his name which supports the Friends of Center Valley Grade School.
He’s served his community by volunteering for several local public service groups and organizations including Black Creek Grade School PTO, the Center Valley Business Association, The Travelers Protective Association local chapter, Greenville Civic Club, the town of Center Planning Commission Board, and the Center Valley Grade School Board.
