Press release from the issuing company
Lutz, FL - Xplor International, the worldwide electronic document systems association, today announced that they plan to release A Guide to the Electronic Document Body of Knowledge™ (EDBOK) at Xploration® 14. The event is being held March 25-27, 2014, at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive in Orlando, Florida. Interested attendees can register here: cvent.com/d/64q8z1.
Xplor plans to distribute limited edition copies of the EDBOK to registered attendees of the conference. Attendees’ feedback will be used in part to finalize content for the First Edition of the EDBOK, to be published by the end of 2014.
The EDBOK explains industry processes and technologies using a standard vocabulary. The topics follow two common timelines. The day-to-day Production Workflow covers 10 production job-steps that every document goes through, from Data to Doorstep. The long-term Document Lifecycle covers the life of a document: requirements gathering, business-casing, development, and ongoing production. Each topic has been created by an industry expert in that area.
The EDBOK project is commissioned by the Xplor Electronic Document Professional® (EDP) Commission. It will help define subject matter within the industry on which EDP certification is based. It will also help industry participants in their day-to-day jobs. The project has been under way for two years and involves over 25 industry experts as authors and editors, most of whom are EDPs or M-EDPs.
“With the publication of the EDBOK, Xplor joins the ranks of other industry associations who have published body of knowledge guides, such as the Project Management Institute, International Institute of Business Analysis, and Charter Quality Institute,” said Skip Henk, EDP, President and CEO of Xplor International. “According to the Business Dictionary, a Body Of Knowledge (BOK) is the ’Domain of essential information, mastery over which is required for success in a field or profession’. We see the EDBOK becoming that domain for electronic documents.”
The only way to acquire the limited edition of the EDBOK is to register for Xploration® 14. Full-conference registration to the three-day event includes access to all 60+ educational sessions, panels, keynotes, general sessions, (2) evening networking events, (2) lunches, a breakfast on Thursday, and a copy of the EDBOK limited edition.
