Briarcliff Manor School District Prepares for PARCC Assessments with Konica Minolta

Press release from the issuing company

New District Printing Solution Supports Technology in the Classroom Initiatives while Reducing Print Volumes by 25 Percent

Ramsey, N.J. Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announces that Briarcliff Manor School District in Briarcliff Manor, New York has implemented a comprehensive print solution from Konica Minolta as part of its PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness of College and Careers) initiative. Leveraging Konica Minolta’s EnvisionIT Education platform, the complete solution helped the district reduce printing volumes by 25 percent while expanding print and document management capabilities to teachers and staff.

With PARCC guidelines scheduled to go into effect for the 2015-2016 school year, Briarcliff School District needed to update its technology infrastructure to meet this and other educational standard initiatives. In addition to implementing a virtual technology environment from VMware® Horizon View™, the district replaced its aging printer fleet with 96 new Konica Minolta bizhub multifunctional printers (MFPs) and added Nuance Equitrac for Follow-You Printing capabilities as well as Nuance eCopy ShareScan for advanced document capture and scanning.

“Konica Minolta was the only solution that met our requirements and worked seamlessly with our virtual technology environment,” says Erica Beasley, Chief Technology & Information Officer, Briarcliff Manor School District. “Our new integrated Konica Minolta print and imaging solution allows us to provide staff and students with greater access to technology resources both inside the classroom and from home. More importantly, the District is now ready to begin the PARCC assessment testing phase and will be ready for the 2015-2016 school year.”

Using Equitrac Follow-You Printing capabilities, Briarcliff is able to set up one virtual printer that allows teachers, staff and students to submit print jobs and retrieve them from any bizhub MFP located throughout the schools using their individual ID number or building key cards. Briarcliff students and staff are able to print documents from any desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone to a bizhub MFP using Equitrac.  Students can print homework, assignments or even club fliers at home and retrieve them at one of the school’s bizhub MFPs the next day.

To simplify devices in the elementary school, the District replaced all of its classroom printers and scanners with bizhub C35 Color All-in-one Printers. Teachers can now print or scan in color from one device. The added color capabilities allow teachers to enhance the educational experience for younger students. With eCopy ShareScan, teachers have the ability to scan in color and display images on the interactive whiteboards reducing the need for printed materials.

“Konica Minolta EnvisionIT Education is helping schools work smarter and meet state and national technology standards by providing integrated solutions that streamline processes, ensure document security and provide schools with advanced print and document management capabilities,” says Kevin Kern, senior vice president, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. “Our customers can count on Konica Minolta to provide tailored solutions designed to meet their specific industry needs and requirements.”
