Colter & Peterson finds success at SGIA Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Paterson, NJ – Featuring three types of Microcut® systems, a unique back gauge computerized retrofit kit for paper cutters, Colter & Peterson experienced better than expected booth traffic and high quality leads at the SGIA Expo.  North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment even worked a deal during the three day event, held October 23-25 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

“It was a good show.  There was solid interest in Microcut and our paper cutter lines, and we saw plenty of people that we’ve known for years,” explained company president Bruce Peterson.  “We also wrote an order for O’Donnell Printing in Orlando.  They previously have a 126-inch paper cutter from us, and at SGIA they contracted for a 70-inch reconditioned Lawson paper cutter.”

Microcut is an automated process that improves production time for a fraction of the cost of a new machine.  The Microcut BASIC®, Microcut JR® and Microcut PLUS WS® packages on display at SGIA are adaptable to any brand or size paper cutter from 20-150 inches, including C&P’s highly successful Saber® and Prism® series paper cutters.

“The Microcut systems generated a good amount of interest and we answered many questions about it.  Quite a few people were impressed to learn that we have 30,000 installations worldwide, so they understand the popularity and value behind it,” commented Peterson.  “SGIA was a good venue for us and we have signed on to exhibit at the 2014 show.”

User friendly and easy to operate, Microcut systems memorize the cutting sequences instantly so the back gauge automatically positions itself for each individual cut.  The information is stored indefinitely and can be recalled quickly at the touch of a button.  Microcut programs a job while cutting the first lift, making automation effective for two or even three lift jobs.

The Microcut Plus WS system provides an extra boost with more benefits.  A full-color, 12” wide format touch screen helps guide the operator with all operations presented in an intuitive, easy to understand format.  Programs can be uploaded from a network connection or with a USB device using CIP 3/4 files, and no additional hardware or software is necessary.
