Chesapeake Facility Installs Bobst ExpertCut Machine

Press release from the issuing company

Chesapeake Lexington has recently installed a new Bobst ExpertCut 106PER machine. This hi-tech cut & crease press is part of an investment programme at the site which will also see the installation of a new state-of-the-art Heidelberg printing press before the end of the year.

The Bobst ExpertCut is already fully commissioned and features a sophisticated power register system which delivers outstanding die-cut to print register accuracy. Simon Tokelove, Head of Chesapeake’s Asset Management, said, We’ve installed a number of these latest generation machines over the past 18 months at some of Chesapeake’s key carton production sites including Newcastle and Nottingham. We’ve also installed the Heidelberg equivalent, the Dymatrix, in Chesapeake East Kilbride and Bialystok where the specifications have been matched to a site’s particular production requirements. Both machine types are equipped with many time-saving and quality control features which have improved the accuracy and production efficiency of the press. This includes an automatic pallet transfer (APT) system that transfers the used pallet from the feeder to the delivery, freeing up operator time to concentrate on production and quality.”

Jason Corbett, Lexington’s Plant Manager, said, “Our production is largely focused on the pharma market although we also produce some branded packaging as well. Some of the packs we produce are complex and the new Bobst die cutter will ensure quality will not be compromised even though the press will be running at production speeds of 9,000 sheets per hour. We’ve been impressed with the machine’s performance and together with a new Heidelberg XL106 press later in the year it will further extend the site’s production capability.”
