Color Management Boot Camp teaches color-managed workflow
Fairfax, Virginia - SGIA welcomed digital printing newcomers and experienced technicians alike for the latest Color Management Boot Camp Workshop, presented by industry experts, Tony Quinn, of Nazdar, Jonathan Read, of Ergosoft US and SGIA’s Jeff Burton.
“I am very raw to the digital printing game, and this was the perfect course into not just color management, but all the processes of digital printing,” said Joe Piper of Formgraphics.
The Workshop, held September 24–26 at SGIA’s facility in Fairfax, Virginia, was designed for production personnel and business owners looking to learn how to properly set up and maintain a color-managed workflow in wide-format inkjet production environments.
Instruction focused on how to consistently manage color on all platforms to take more efficient control of workflow. Attendees learned all about basic color management concepts; print standards and specifications; color measurement instrumentation and profiling software; and device calibration.
The highlights, for attendee Jonathan Ramirez of A Lot To Say Manufacturing, included “learning how to profile and how to use spot colors.”
“I can now go back and profile our own materials. My company will struggle less trying to match colors,” he said. “[This Workshop] taught me how color works and how it’s read through different software [and] how to take advantage of the software we have by using features I didn’t know how to use before.”
SGIA headquarters isn’t the only place for a color education. Visit the Color Management & Workflow Solutions Zone at the 2013 SGIA Expo (Orlando, October 23–25), which will focus on color management tools and techniques, as well as RIP and third-party software solutions. Attendees can expand their capabilities and develop new relationships by joining any of the presentations during show hours. Register for the Expo today!
