Demand for Shorter Runs Sees Colorscan Imaging Products Invest in Second EFI Jetrion

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, California – Following its investment just 12 months ago in its first EFI™ Jetrion® 4900 UV-curable digital label press, Burton-on-Trent, U.K.-based based Colorscan Imaging Products has installed a second Jetrion digital printer. The demand for short-run labels, along with the development of new, profitable applications, led the company to purchase the Jetrion 4900M with CMYK and white inks. The new equipment will complement the company’s existing Jetrion 4900, which includes in-line finishing.

Like its initial investment, Colorscan Imaging Products purchased its new Jetrion 4900M from specialist supplier Grafitec Label Presses. The modular design of the printer means that additional features can be incorporated at a later date, enabling users to customize the machine when required to specific laser cutting and finishing needs.

Colorscan Imaging Products is a great example of a label convertor that has continued growing its digital printing business since first choosing an EFI Jetrion printing system,” stated Stephen Emery, vice president of EFI’s Ink Business and Jetrion. “The company takes advantage of the lean manufacturing this digital label printer provides and capitalizes on the increased demand for short runs and versioning. To remain competitive, print companies in this market sector need a reliable platform that gives them true flexibility and high quality, enabling them to profit from shorter runs and greater versatility.”

Colorscan Imaging Products specializes in the U.K. brewing industry, working with regional and larger companies when they need short run labels. It was the first company in the U.K. to purchase the EFI Jetrion 4900, and its immediate success led to a very swift return on investment through a significant increase in profit. The addition of the Jetrion 4900M will enable the generation of new applications on a wide variety of label stocks, and allow Colorscan to continue capitalizing on the ability to produce short runs and jobs that include versioning, customization and color changes in a fully digital system.
