"As a member of the ICC, Creo supports the free exchange of profiles and supports ICC as a standard," explains Stan Coleman, Creo corporate vice president, printing workflow solutions. "Our customers have told us that there is great value in being able to freely exchange ICC profiles that were generated by Profile Wizard, with their customers. They use the profiles in desktop applications such as Adobe Photoshop for use in a color-managed workflow or at a single color hub facility to color-manage multiple printing sites. Our goal is to provide an efficient workflow and we do that by supporting open standards."
ICC Color Profiles and Profile Wizard...
Front-to-back color-managed workflows work best if the color management information is distributed as widely as possible. The end-user agreement for versions 2.5 and higher of Profile Wizard software allows users to freely distribute the ICC profiles they create.
Creo is responding to the appeal of the ICC and the Technical Committee 130 (Graphic Technology) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to promote the free exchange of ICC color profiles.
Profile Wizard color management products, based on the Macintosh platform, give creative and prepress professionals the power to maintain optimum color accuracy for any input device, monitor display, and output device. From start to finish, intelligent ICC profiles maintain color integrity as the data passes from one device to another. With Profile Wizard, print predictability and communication are improved, productivity enhanced, and the cost and delay of rework is reduced.
The latest version of Profile Wizard software, 2.6, includes major advances in color management including support for Mac OS X classic mode; generation of many Colors output profiles (including Hexachrome-capable devices) for more than 4-color high-fidelity reproduction; and provision of ICC DeviceLink profiles that preserve black channel information to overcome a limitation of standard ICC workflows.
