Press release from the issuing company
Muller Martini had a singular objective at the year’s largest industry gathering: to demonstrate to printers and binderies how its component-driven finishing solutions offer investment protection and a stable foundation that can enable them to compete.
According to customer feedback, that objective was clearly met. Unlike past shows, at Print 13 Muller’s booth display was not as much about the product as it was about the process. Using step-by-step demonstrations and graphic visuals, booth visitors were able to experience first-hand how Muller’s scalable solutions have the flexibility to accommodate a variety of formats and challenges.
Muller’s Must See ‘Em Award winner, the Presto II Digital Saddle Stitcher, took center stage as Muller’s team demonstrated how it could be expanded from a conventional stitcher to one that could run a digital job. Joseph Giovenco, Saddle Stitching Product Specialist, remarked, “With the Presto II, we showed how easy it was to go from a flat sheet right through to a stitched and trimmed finished product—and each book was in a different format than the one before.”
Perhaps most telling was the quality of the questions, as most who viewed the demonstrations were decision-makers. Observed Mr. Giovenco, “People wanted to understand the functions of our equipment, and how we’re marrying digital and hybrid capabilities to a standard saddle stitcher. With the Presto II, they could see that they can continue to do traditional stitching, but that it also provides them with various configurations that can grow as their workflow changes and expands.”
Steve Kauffman, a 35-plus year industry veteran and Muller Martini regional sales manager, concurred. “I’ve been attending Print shows since the 1970s. What was truly exciting about this show was that we provided our customers with dynamic, off-the-shelf solutions by which they could achieve digital and hybrid output with a traditional machine as the base. And I think for the first time, customers were not just able to understand their options, but their opportunities.”
He concluded, “We listened to our customers and then developed solutions that will give them the scalability and modularity they need so they don’t lock themselves in a corner. And, given Muller Martini’s reputation and track record, our customers know that we’re building everything on the proven performance of what has come before.”
