Schur International a/s acquires IDAB WAMAC from Heidelberg

(December 16, 2008) As of 10 December 2008 Schur International a/s has acquired all shares in IDAB WAMAC International AB from Heidelberg.

Schur has for a number of years through its subsidiaries Schur Packaging Systems a/s in Horsens, Denmark and Schur Palletiser AB in Eksjö, Sweden provided advanced mailroom, distribution and palletiser solutions to the newspaper and commercial printing industry worldwide.

The acquisition of IDAB WAMAC will strengthen Schur's position in the newspaper mailroom segment and Schur will operate one production unit including engineering, project management and management in Eksjö, Sweden and an aftersales, service, sales and engineering unit in Horsens, Denmark. Schur's sales company, Schur Packaging Systems Inc. in Chicago will in future remain responsible for North and South America.

Hans Schur, owner and CEO of Schur International a/s says: "It is our intention to consolidate our mailroom business in Eksjö and we are very excited about this opportunity to take the best from both companies and create an entity which will be known worldwide for providing productive, highly automated, high-speed mailroom solutions supported by our palletising units".

Bernhard Schreier, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG says: "IDAB WAMAC is not considered core business any more so we decided to find a new home for this company. This is a further step in focussing on Sheetfed offset solutions and implementing our improvement programme. We are very pleased that Schur, who has en excellent reputation and long-standing commitment within the mailroom business, will be the new owner of IDAB WAMAC in Eksjö".
