On 17 May, the penultimate day of China Print in Beijing, Printtek 2013 opened its doors in Istanbul. Some KBA sales representatives therefore jumped on the next flight from Beijing to Istanbul as soon as the first show ended.
Together with its longstanding sales agency, Dereli Graphic, Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) one of the world’s leading press manufacturers occupied a stand at Printtek. The 530m² KBA stand was the largest ever booked for an exhibition in Turkey and underscores the importance of this key growth market situated on the edge of Europe.
As the leader in offset packaging printing, KBA exhibited a medium-format five-colour model with coater of the new Rapida 105. The live demonstrations attracted a raft visitors to the Dereli Graphic stand. As the newest medium-format press in its class, the Rapida 105 produced high-quality posters and postcards at speeds of up to 17,000sph. Along with its high output, the press’ fast job change was also of great interest.
On the second day of the show Akmat printing house from Bursa, the centre of the Turkish automotive industry, ordered an eight-colour Rapida 105 perfecting press for four-back-four printing. Commercial printer Akmat switched to KBA after previously printing on presses from other manufacturers.
The five-colour Rapida 105 with coater on show at the trade fair was sold to Gezegen Basim printing plant in Istanbul. This press will join a four-colour and a five-colour Rapida at Gezegen. The company produces high-quality books, catalogues and brochures for the Turkish market.
During this well-visited trade show, the team from Dereli Graphic and KBA initiated numerous projects for small-, medium- and large-format presses with users from Turkey and the Middle East, among them many new customers interested in KBA’s sheetfed technology.
Turkey is a rapidly growing market which is successfully being addressed by Dereli Graphic and KBA. Since the beginning of 2013 a superlarge-format Rapida 205 with six printing units and coating capabilities at Doganpak in Manisa, a six-colour Rapida 145 with coater at Biltur in Istanbul and a four-colour Rapida 75 at the city of Istanbul’s printing plant have all gone live. Dereli Graphic offers Turkish printers a wide spectrum of products and services ranging from prepress to finishing and includes consumables.
