Press release from the issuing company
Kelly Galbreath and Joe Galbreath, the creative couple responsible for this fun and unexpected design, turned the idea of the wedding invitation on its head with a large format and untraditional paper choice and color palette.
Palo Alto, California - "Two graphic designers getting married and creating their own wedding invitation,” muses Sabine Lenz, founder of PaperSpecs.com, “now there’s the opportunity for some creative fireworks and a Take Note Award!"
Lenz revealed today that Kelly Galbreath and Joe Galbreath have been selected as winners of the PaperSpecs Gallery Take Note Award for Quarter One 2013.
Brian Dougherty, founding partner and creative director at Celery Design Collaborative, served as guest judge for the quarterly competition sponsored by Erickson Stock.
"The Galbreaths’ wedding invitation is so refreshing and well executed,"comments Dougherty on his Take Note Award selection. "It plays well with the design vernacular and the paper choice."
"“What we really wanted was a casual, non-precious artifact,"explains Joe Galbreath, an assistant professor of graphic design at West Virginia University (Morgantown, WV).
Kelley, a designer, agrees, "Our wedding was a really laid-back afternoon so the standard, formal invite package just wasn’t going to fit the event or our personalities and design inclinations."
Their personal sense of humor, design aesthetic and penchant for fun can be seen in every element of the invitation suite:
