Founder of GMC Software Technology recognized for significant contributions to the digital printing and publishing industry
Boston, USA / Appenzell, Switzerland - GMC Software Technology (GMC), the award- winning leader in Customer Communications Management (CCM), announced today that René Müller, founder and president of the board of directors of GMC Software Technology, was selected by Xplor International as the recipient of the 2013 Brian Platte Lifetime Achievement Award, presented April 17 at Xplor’s Annual Conference in St. Pete Beach, Fla. The Lifetime Achievement Award is named after Brian Platte of IBM, who defined a general purpose document and information presentation architecture known as Advanced Function Printing (AFP), which became an industry standard. Müller is recognized for his more than 20 years of commitment and contributions that significantly advanced the digital document industry.
“Working with René over the years, we have been impressed with his personal vision, tenacity and integrity that truly set him apart as an industry leader,” said Skip Henk, president and CEO of Xplor International. “The unique corporate culture he has instilled at GMC Software along with his passion for quality, innovation and excellence has left a permanent mark on the document industry.”
Under Müller’s leadership, GMC Software Technology fostered industry innovation and ensured it was ahead of the technology curve and market trends and demonstrating to others in the industry what could be achieved. Early in its history, the company was one of the first to fully embrace a full-color workflow in a production printing application, laying the groundwork for other suppliers in the market to emulate this breakthrough approach. Müller led GMC’s transformation from a small hardware integration company in 1994 to a global leader in CCM solutions. Today, its more than 400 employees serve thousands of clients worldwide across multiple industries, including financial services, banking, healthcare, insurance and print services.
“It’s an honor to accept this distinguished award that I feel is also a result of the hard work and dedication of so many of my colleagues who have passionately supported our company’s drive for innovation and excellence,” Müller said. “This recognition is especially significant coming from Xplor, an organization that continues to focus its efforts on expanding the increasingly complex technical knowledge and skill sets necessary for industry progress.”
